Beatrice (Huber) Stastny was born February 28, 1930 in Nebraska City, the
daughter of George and Daisy Huber. She
formerly lived in Nebraska City and Dwight, Nebraska, before moving to
Yerington, NV. She married Francis Stastny April 12, 1977 in Lincoln. Beatrice was a member of the Yerington Ladies
Club. She graduated from Nebraska City
High School in 1948 and the Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln in 1951. She
worked in various hospitals and nursing homes throughout California and
Nebraska for 50 years. Beatrice loved to
stay in touch with her nursing friends.
Survivors
include her husband, Francis Stastny of Yerington, NV; daughter Loni Adams of
Oceanside, CA; sons, Brad Adams and his wife Ping and Blake Adams, all of San Francisco,
CA; two grandchildren; brother Ben Huber and wife Pauline of Schuyler, NE;
sisters Mary Staack and husband John of Syracuse, NE;
Dorothy Gruenemeyer of Indianapolis, IN; Yvonne Smith
of Meridian, ID; Karen Reinecke of Hughson, CA.;
sister-in-law Joan Huber of Nebraska City; and several nieces, nephews other
relatives and friends. She was preceded
in death by her parents and brother, Bruce.
Beatrice died May 24, 2010 in Oceanside, CA at the age of 80 years.
Marguerite
D. “Mickey” Corley was born February
14, 1912 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of John and Anny Eugenia (Langenbuch) Dubbels. She married Dean J. Corley December 14, 1933
in Independence, KS. Dean died September
3, 1997. She formerly lived in
Bartlesville, OK before moving to Nebraska City in 2002. Mickey was a homemaker and she was a member
of the Lutheran Church and ESA Sorority.
She loved traveling, dancing and antiquing.
Survivors include her sister, Clarie
Peek of Platte City, MO; nephew, Kurt Grotheer and
his wife Elsie of Nebraska City; great niece, Beth Williams; great nephews,
Richard, Andy and Tim Grotheer; many other relatives
and friends. She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband; sister, Dotty Lange; brothers in law, Joe Lange and
Chris Peek. Mickey died August 17, 2010
at the Ambassador in Nebraska City at the age of 98 years, 6 months and 3 days.
Kenneth
Miles, husband of Randolph, IA native
Janice Kempton Miles, passed from this life Wednesday, August 11, 2010, and
entered into a new, eternal life with his Lord. Death took place peacefully at
home with loving family surrounding him.
Ken was born January 9, 1923 in Portland, OR to Gerald and Violet Miles.
Following high school graduation, he served in the Navy during WWII.
During this time he and Janice, who survives him, met at the Univ. of Colorado
and married February 27, 1945. Shortly after, Ken was deployed to the
Philippines for the duration of the war.
Ken pursued a life-long, very
successful career in electrical engineering, his specialty being industrial
plants. His hobbies included radio building and repair, mountain and beach
hiking, and playing with his four children, who survive him: Linda Stevens,
Merrily Jones, Anne Schaffner, and Gary Miles. In
addition he enjoyed his 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister,
Geraldine Miles Simonson, and a niece, Barbara Simonson Rider. Residences have included Portland, OR,
Vancouver, WA, Denver, CO, and home has been in the Seattle area for more than
35 years.
Edith
P. Fenstermacher was born July 23, 1920 in Wahoo,
the daughter of Swan and Anna (Ask) Nelson. She attended Luther Academy, Wahoo
and was a graduate of Methodist School of Nursing in 1943 and was a retired
Registered Nurse. She met her husband,
Dr. Robert Fenstermacher, when he was an intern at
Methodist Hospital and they were married on November 25, 1943. Edith was a school nurse in Nebraska
City. She started the Otoe County Mental
Health Association, was the first woman Mayor of Nebraska City, from 1976 to
1980. She was an honorary member of DKG,
retired PEO member, volunteer at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln for 20 years, and
served as an organist for many churches in Nebraska City.
Survivors include daughter, Beverly Windle of Mill Valley, California; son, Jay Fenstermacher of Aliso Viejo,
California; grandson, Jason Fenstermacher; many other
relatives and friends. She was preceded
in death by her parents; brother, Gunnar Nelson; three sisters, Signe Anderson,
Viola Hageman and Verna Larson. Edith
died July 30, 2010 at The Ambassador in Nebraska City at the age of 90 years
and 7 days.
Darrell
LeRoy Lane
was born January 28, 1937 in York, Nebraska, the son of John and Blossom
(Barton) Lane. He was a good dad and was
an avid Husker football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn
Lane of Otoe; children, Penny Lane of Syracuse; Dakota Lane of Otoe and Darby
Lane of Clay Center, KS; six grandchildren, many other relatives and
friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents and brother, John Lane. Darrell
died July 30, 2010 at Duff’s Friendship Villa in Nebraska City at the age of 73
years, 6 months and 2 days.
Luella Clara
Moyer was born May 2, 1910 in
Nebraska City, the daughter of Louis A. and Anna (Niebruegge)
Tegtmeyer. She
married Mark N. Moyer September 29, 1932 in Nebraska City. Mark died April 29, 1976. Luella was a homemaker and lived in the
Nebraska City area her entire life and moved into Nebraska City from the farm
in 1980. Luella was a Hobbies and
Personal Notes: She was a graduate of the Nebraska City High School and was formerly
an avid bowler. Luella was a member of
the Bethel United Church of Christ for 86 years, of which she taught Sunday School for 56 years and was Sunday School Superintendant for
55 years. She was a Red Cross Volunteer,
volunteered at St. Mary’s Community Hospital and was a member of A.A.R.P.
Survivors include her son, Ronald C. Moyer and his
wife, Maureen of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter, Mary Ann Notz
of Burlingame, CA; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sister,
Evelyn Brust of Nebraska City; many other relatives
and friends. She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband; son, Jim; one grandchild; brother, Lester; sisters
Ruby Dendinger and Leona Feather. Luella died July 21, 2010 at Duff’s
Friendship Villa in Nebraska City at the age of 100 years, 2 months and 19
days.
SANDRA
L. GUST, age 66 of Nebraska City, NE
died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City
unexpectedly. Sandra was born January 4,
1944 near Yale, IA to Lee Roy Badger and Ella (Tassler)
Badger. She was married to Delrahe R. Gust on May 29, 1965 in Omaha, NE. She was a member of the First Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Nebraska City.
Sandra
was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Delrahe Gust
of Nebraska City, NE; son, Delray Gust and wife Kimberly and their son
Nathaniel of Omaha, NE; daughter, Sherry Gust-Wolfrom
and husband John and their son, Alexander of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews, many
other relatives and friends.
Ardith Ann Ervin
was born October 5, 1933 in Union, Nebraska the daughter of Otis and Lena
(Rakes) Keene. She Married Donald Ervin, July 12, 1952 in Falls City,
Nebraska. Donald died March 21,
1988. Ardith
Lived in Union most of her life. She was
a homemaker and loved quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning, fishing and
flowers.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Kimmel and her
husband Scott of Bellevue; sons, Doyle (Web) Keene and his wife Bev of Nebraska
City; Arthur Ervin and his wife Shelly of Weeping Water; Daryl (Mouse) Ervin and
his wife Bev of Weeping Water; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren;
sisters, Virginia (Ginny) Sheridan and her husband Ray of Lincoln; Nola Grunwald and her husband Duane of Union; brothers, Leo
Keene and his wife Sally of Bellevue; Glen Keene of Union; Delbert Keene of
Union; Lonnie Keene and his wife Sandra of Union; close friend, Mary Scott of
Manley; numerous nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Bonnie Jones; brothers,
Lamar, Meredith and Ivan. Ardith died July 11, 2010, at her home in Union, Nebraska
at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 6 days.
Gary Leroy
Jones was born April 26, 1941 in
Nebraska City, the daughter of Glenn Wimpy and Crystal (Snyder) Jones. He married Nancy Switzer December 26, 1964 in
Nehawka. Gary lived in Nehawka most of
his life. He served in the U.S. Army for
two years and was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Gary worked as a cable machine operator at
what was then called Western Electric in Omaha and after several name changes,
he retired in 2003 from Avaya with 44 years of service. He loved camping and spending time with
family. Gary graduated from Nehawka High
School in 1959 and was a member of Nehawka American Legion Post No. 157.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Nehawka;
daughters, Jean Bashus and her husband Tim of Pacific
Junction, IA; Karen Hoback and her husband Roger of
Nebraska City; son, Michael Jones and his wife Kari of Fond du Lac, WI;
grandchildren, Chad and Chealsy Bashus,
Brady and Colby Hoback, Elliot, Sawyer, Isabella,
Isaiah and Gaberial Jones; sisters, Glenda Palmer of
Avoca and Janette Monroe and her husband Gene of Nehawka; sisters in law and
brothers in law, Janice and Howard Gansemer of
Nehawka; Phyllis and Dugan Gregg of Nehawka, several nieces, nephews, aunts,
uncles and cousins. He was preceded in
death by his parents and brother in law, Paul Palmer. Gary died June 28, 2010 at his home in
Nehawka at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 2 days.
