Georgene Peeler, age 83 of Nebraska City (formerly Hamburg, IA) passed away peacefully January 31, 2021 at The Ambassador in Nebraska City. She was born April 6, 1937 on the family farm near Union, the daughter of John William and Grace Elizabeth (Montgomery) Everett. She attended rural school in Union and graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1954. She attended Peru State Teachers College where she played volleyball and received her teaching certificate. Georgene was united in marriage to Donald Lee Peeler June 22, 1958 in Rock Port, MO and to this union, three children were born, Donald, Mary, and Ronald. Georgene was a life-long farmer’s wife, stay at home mom, grade school special education classroom aide and had taught at a rural Nebraska School. Georgene also served many years as Deputy County Auditor from Fremont County, Iowa. She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Nebraska City and served for many years with the Fremont County Extension Committee and 4-H Fremont County Fair Board. Survivors include her children, Donald Duane Peeler and wife Melissa of Omaha; Mary Helen Johnson and husband Jim of Union and Ronald Lee Peeler and wife Marcia of Indianola, IA; seven grandchildren, Lauren (Steve) White, Alyson (Stephen) Kavanaugh, all of Omaha; Jeffrey Johnson of Fort Calhoun, Jeremy Johnson of Nebraska City, Erin (Stephen) Ball of Ankeny, IA, Andra (Greg) DiMarco of Des Moines, IA, Andrew Peeler (fiancé Haley Flores) of Ankeny, IA; two great grandchildren, Asher and Otto Kavanaugh; sisters, Mildred Allen of Nebraska City and Louise Harpole of Ralston; brother, Dale (Cindy) Everett of Union; other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Lee Peeler; brothers, William, and Marshall Everett; sisters, Betty Hoback and Pat Marunda.
