Obituary for Glen Martin Weston

Glen Martin Weston, age 61 of Percival, IA, died Saturday, January 18, 2020 at home following a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Marty was born May 27, 1958 in Maryville, MO to David Lee Weston and Sharon Faye (McGinness) Weston.

Marty graduated from Farragut High School in 1976. After High School he worked for various farmers in the area before finding his true calling, being a mechanic. Marty worked alongside his mentor and friend Dale Chaney until he became too ill to work.
Marty loved his family. He would drop everything to help family. It didn’t matter what time of day or night or where it might be, if you needed something he would be there. He loved his grandkids dearly. He enjoyed attending their activities and watching them grow.
Marty was a simple, patient, and kind man. He was very community oriented. He was there to help at any time. He loved his Percival Family. He would drop what he was doing to go help no matter what it might be, strangers or friends alike. He was always the person to call on to find out what was happening in the flood of 2011 and even in the flood of 2019, he was always out scouting things in his flatbed truck.

Marty always loved a challenge, even after being diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis he climbed to the top of Crazy Horse Mountain in South Dakota, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Marty loved participating in mud drags, and demolition derbies up until he discovered he wasn’t as young as he thought and took far too long to recover. His Harley Davidson was his pride and joy. He had a special place in his heart with all the memories of great friends helping to rebuild this bike he had salvaged from a fire. Marty loved to take someone under his wing and teach them if they were willing to listen and learn. He taught many, many people through the years. He was always willing to share his tips and tricks.

Marty loved a good adventure, even if it may have landed him in some pretty precarious situations. There are memories held by many friends and family of some of these adventures.
Marty was a one of a kind man, he will be greatly missed by many.

Marty was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and his beloved dog, Jolie. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Jasclyn Price and husband Bill of Sidney, IA and Jodi K Johnson of Red Oak, IA; special friend, Lois Miller of Hamburg IA; mother, Sharon Weston of Farragut, IA; 3 grandchildren, Chase Price, Cylis Johnson and Audrina Johnson; brothers and sister, Randy Weston and wife Rawn of Farragut IA; Ron Weston and wife Elaine of Shenandoah IA; Curtis Weston and wife Lisa of McKinney TX; Tamara Jackson and husband Dave of Essex IA; extended family, DJ Graham, Bailey Bebout and Squid Henneman; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the United Faith Church in Sidney, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to the family. Private disposition of ashes will be at a later time. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA is in charge of arrangements.
