Obituary for Lois M. Fichter

LOIS M. FICHTER, age 86 of Randolph, IA, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Amelia Place Assisted Living in Council Bluffs, IA following an extended illness. Lois was born December 28, 1932 in Blanchard, IA to Anson Williamson and Bertha Mae (Kelsay) Williamson. On January 3, 1955, she was married to Boyd Fichter of Randolph, IA. A daughter, Rebecca, was adopted in 1967, a special joy of life.

Lois' grade school years were spent at Coin Consolidated School. High School years included St. Patrick's Academy in Imogene, IA and Notre Dame Academy in Omaha, NE. Her music studies were acquired at Peru State College in Peru, NE and Logan School of Music in Omaha where she continued studying while working at Central Surveys in Shenandoah, IA. She worked there until 1962 when they moved to Boyd's family farm near Randolph.

Music was a very special part of life to Lois. She sang for many weddings, anniversaries and funeral as well as other occasions. She developed a love of oil painting, enjoying special friendships even more. Lois was a member of the Randolph United Methodist Church.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Fichter in 2004; her only brother, Bernard Williamson, died in Colorado in 1984 following her mother's death that same year; and her father died in 1967. She is survived her daughter, Rebecca Stubblefield and husband John Randall Stubblefield of Council Bluffs, IA; nieces and nephews, Patti Fichter and husband Dr. Samuel Parry of Arizona, Lou Ann Williamson of California, Mae Marie (Williamson) Alarid of Colorado, Ceci (Williamson) Schrivner and husband Ron of Wyoming, Jerry Steward and wife Maryland, Jack Stewart and wife Gloria, James Stewart and wife Linda all of California; cousins, Mickie Christensen and husband Jens of Texas and Barbara Olenius of Iowa; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, IA with Rev. Jan Phillips of the Randolph United Methodist Church officiating. Visitations will be open after 5:00 PM Friday with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Memorials will go to the Tabor Volunteer Ambulance Association or the Randolph United Methodist Church and interment will be in the Randolph, IA Cemetery. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, IA is in charge of arrangements.
