Obituary for Steven Dale Barbour

Steven Dale Barbour was born November 8, 1941, near Tabor, IA to John Nix and Velora (Field) Barbour. Steve passed away December 5, 2018 at Lancaster Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, NE after a long battle living with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 77 years and 27 days. He attended Tabor Public Schools graduating in 1960 from Fremont-Mills High School. He participated in track, football and band in High School and achieved the Amateur Radio Operator’s License as a teenager. Steve enlisted in the Navy and served until 1967 as an electronic technician in Alaska, Guam and on-board a ship during the Vietnam Conflict. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for several years as an electronics repairman in the Los Angeles, CA area. Steve resided at Riverview Terrace in Nebraska City for sixteen years where he enjoyed many friendships and pursued his hobbies, painting and music. Steve was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sisters, Anna (Dale) Haverty of Nebraska City, NE and Tamara (Paul) Uloth of Minnesota; brothers, John (Lorna) Barbour of Glenwood, IA and Eric (Darrell) Beresford of Clear Lake, IA; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
