Obituary for Ted Joseph Beilman

Ted Joseph Beilman, age 68 of Nebraska City died March 13, 2019 at CHI St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln. Ted was born June 10, 1950 in Fremont, the son of Ewald A. and Mabel M. (Myers) Beilman. He married Gloria Glover May 18, 1990 in Anchorage, AK. Ted lived to the age of 10 in Nebraska City, moved to Phoenix, AZ for 20 years, then moved to Alaska for 30 years. Upon retirement, he returned to live in Nebraska City in 2013. Before his retirement, Ted worked as an Alaska State Senate Aide and for Princess Cruise Lines in safety and compliance for land-based operations. In Nebraska City, he was Executive Director of the Nebraska City Veteran’s Memorial Building Project, a member of the Nebraska City Eagles F.O.E. No. 968 and the Wirth Foundation Board. Ted enjoyed living and volunteering in Nebraska City. He started the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building Project and worked tirelessly to restore the building to its former grandeur. Ted also started the Nebraska City Honor and Remember Our Heroes and created and arranged over 300 displays of local military members from Nebraska City and Otoe County. Ted started the Friends of Nebraska City Riverview Nature Park to focus on restoring Riverview Park as a nature trail park for all ages to enjoy. He also incorporated as a nonprofit, the Arbor Academy Childcare and Education Center as a future child care and family learning facility for Nebraska City. Ted enjoyed restoring vintage Volkswagens and loved working on them. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Glover of Nebraska City; sisters, Kathleen Beilman of Nebraska City and Pam Dickinson and husband K.C. of Gilbert, AZ; aunts, Jackie Smith and husband Duane and Esther Schnitzer, all of Nebraska City; many other relatives and friends. Ted was preceded in death by his parents.
