Obituary for Wayne Richard Meyer

Wayne Richard Fritz Meyer, age 74 of Nebraska City died June 29, 2020 at his home. Wayne was born November 13, 1945 in Unadilla, the son of Rudolph and Minnie (Sporhase) Meyer. Wayne lived in the Nebraska City area most of his life and graduated from Talmage High School in 1963. He served in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1971. Wayne married Kathy Yost November 13, 1990 in Talmage. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad from 1967 until he retired in 2006. Wayne was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 968 and American Legion Post No. 8 and was a former member of Nebraska City Elks Lodge No. 1049. He loved spending time with family and friends, boating on the river and working on the farm. Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Nebraska City; children, Donald Meyer of Otoe; Alan Meyer and wife Buffy of Union; Rhonda Meyer of Thornton, CO; Roxy Moyer of Nebraska City; Rick Bennett and wife Shawna of Nebraska City; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Lois Ikenberry and husband Larry of Palmyra; brother, Lynn Meyer and wife Cindy of Nebraska City; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leonard, Dennis, Ervin, Norman and Ivan.
